A common myth used in the topic of gun violence is the idea that guns don’t kill people, people kill people. People with guns kill people more effectively and easily than people without guns do, additionally, the rate of gun homicide in the U.S is significantly higher than in other high-income countries. The false idea that guns don’t affect homicide rates was first used in a gun control debate and despite being factually inaccurate and misleading has continued being spread and used in the topic of American gun violence.
