"Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, has long been used in the management of pain from chronic disorders, cancer, and severe discomfort." Which I found to be incorrect while fentanyl is used for pain management, the statement suggests an application without acknowledging its significant role in the opioid epidemic due to misuse and manufacturing. Another piece of misinformation I found is, "The epidemic in New York State would not be limited to rural or suburban areas as New York City would also face increased rates of fentanyl-involved overdose deaths of almost 3,000% from 2014 to 2017." This stat may be accurate, but it lacks context. It could potentially mislead by not specifying the total number of deaths or the proportion of these deaths attributed to fentanyl compared to other drugs. Two pieces of social media used to display misinformation and leading on of people is, Facebook and Tik Tok making fake videos and links to make it seem good.
