My first news media disinformation comes from the New York Times. It discusses gun violence in America. People from China are using deep fakes of real news anchors and their environments to spread disinformation. The intentions of this fake news outlet called ‘Wolf News’ is to spread the idea that America takes no action against mass shootings, and spreading false information about how dangerous America is to promote the public interest of Communist China. These fake news clips were spread around by bot accounts on Facebook, created by supporters of these fake videos. This disinformation is nefarious in nature, due to the fact these pro communist Chinese know what they are spreading is not true, and it is also reinterpreting evidence because of the use of a real
news station and its anchors intentionally disguised as something else.
