This article talks about the Russian propaganda and dis/misinformation spreading through Russian news and social media involving the attack on Corcus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Russia where a concert was taking place. According to the Kremlin, Ukraine is the main suspect to the attack. Evidence of disinformation aired on Russian television of Oleksiy Danilvo, Ukraines former secretary of National Security and Defense Council telling news anchors, is “Moscow is having fun today” just hours after attack. This was debunked as a deepfake generated post. An increase in social media posts blaming Ukraine with no real evidence and also social media posts circulated from “Doppelganger” a Russian intelligence operation blaming western involvement, claiming the United States knew of the attack and was “in on it”. Many of these social media posts were spread in different languages boosting its spread. Even after the US connected Khorasan, a Islamic state to the attack, Russia is immune to that evidence saying the migrant workers that caused the attack were in cahoots with Ukraine. No real evidence within any of these social media post that blamed Ukraine and western countries for the attack were found.
